Sweet Pongal Rice

Preparation & Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Rice
  • 1/2 Cup Moong Dal
  • 5 Cup water
  • 1 Cup Grated Jaggery
  • 1 Tablespoon Clarified butter (Pure Ghee)
  • A pinch of Salt
  • 1/2 Cup water
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Cardamom powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Nutmeg powder
  • A pinch of Saffron
  • 1 Tablespoon Cashews
  • 1 Tablespoon Raisins
  • 1 Tablespoon Almonds

Recipe –
Wash rice & moong dal & soak for 15 mins in the water. Drain it.
Put it in pressure cooker, add 5 Cup of water.
Take out 4 whistles. Once cool take out .
Take one large pot. Heat it, put Jaggery & water, let in boil till it melts. Add Cardamom powder, Nutmeg powder, saffron & Salt.
Add the cooked dal rice mixture & fold it till it becomes smooth. The consistency is semi solid.
Take a tadka dani, put Clarified Butter or Ghee & heat it. Roast the above dry fruits till golden brown. Take out & mix it in the Sweet Pongal. It’s ready to serve. Enjoy with your family & friends
